Crushing equipment plays a crucial role in material handling in industrial production. Its high-speed core components and high-intensity operational characteristics determine that safety protection is an indispensable top priority during use. Reasonable installation of safety protection devices can not only effectively avoid risks such as personnel injury and equipment damage, but also ensure the continuous and stable operation of the production process. The following are the core safety protection devices that must be equipped around the crushing equipment to build a comprehensive defense line for operation safety.
Fixed guardrails and isolation barriers
Physical isolation is the first line of defense against safety risks. For the operation range of crushing equipment, fixed guardrails and isolation barriers that meet safety standards should be set up.
The guardrails should be made of high-strength materials, with a height of no less than 1.2 meters and a spacing controlled within a reasonable range to prevent personnel limbs or foreign objects from entering the equipment operation area by mistake.
The isolation barrier should cover the feed port, discharge port and the area around the core moving parts of the equipment, clearly demarcating the operation area from the non-operation area to prevent irrelevant personnel from approaching.
The guardrails and barriers must have sufficient stability to withstand certain impact forces. At the same time, necessary maintenance passages should be reserved, and the passage doors should be equipped with locking devices to ensure that the equipment cannot be started during maintenance.
Emergency shutdown system
When sudden malfunctions or dangerous situations occur, quickly cutting off the power supply of the equipment is the key to preventing the expansion of the accident. The emergency shutdown system must meet the requirements of convenience and sensitivity.
Emergency stop buttons should be evenly placed at easily accessible locations around the equipment. The buttons should be designed in a striking red color and clearly marked with the “Emergency Stop” symbol to ensure that operators can quickly trigger them from any Angle.
The emergency shutdown system must be directly linked to the main power supply of the equipment. Once triggered, it should immediately cut off the power supply to all moving parts and lock the equipment start-up device at the same time to prevent accidental operation and restart.
Regularly conduct functional tests on the emergency stop button to ensure it is free from lag and responds promptly. At the same time, provide operation training to relevant personnel to familiarize each operator with the button’s location and usage methods.
Protective cover plate and sealing device
The transmission components such as the rotating shaft, gears and pulleys of the crushing equipment, as well as the material transmission areas such as the feed port and discharge port, need to be equipped with dedicated protective covers and sealing devices.
The protective cover plates of the transmission components should adopt a closed design to completely enclose the dangerous parts, preventing clothing, gloves or limbs from being drawn in. The cover plates should have a firm fixing structure to avoid falling off due to vibration.
The protective cover plate for the feeding port should have both protective and feeding guidance functions. It can be designed in a grid type or a flip cover type, which not only prevents accidental falls of personnel but also does not affect the normal transportation of materials.
The sealing device should be adapted to the operating intensity of the equipment, effectively preventing material splashing and dust leakage, protecting the operators from dust damage, and at the same time reducing the wear of the equipment components by the environment.
Safety interlock device
The safety interlock device is the core for ensuring the collaborative safety of equipment and personnel. Through mechanical or electronic interlocking, it guarantees that the equipment cannot be started or immediately shut down in an unsafe state.
The equipment inspection door, protective cover plate and starting system are interlocked. When the door or cover plate is not fully closed, the equipment cannot be started. If the door or cover plate is opened during operation, the equipment will automatically shut down.
A material overload interlock device is installed at the feeding port. When the material accumulation exceeds the equipment’s carrying capacity, the system will automatically cut off the feeding and shut down to prevent equipment failure or safety accidents caused by overload.
The interlocking device should be equipped with an anti-mis-trigger design, and regular calibration and maintenance should be carried out to ensure the accuracy of the interlocking logic and prompt response.
Early warning and alarm system
Early warning of potential risks can buy reaction time for operators. The alarm system needs to cover the key safety nodes of equipment operation.
The equipment is equipped with monitoring devices for abnormal rotational speed, excessively high temperature, excessive vibration and other operating parameters. When the data exceeds the safety threshold, it will immediately issue an audible and visual alarm signal to remind the operator to check in time.
The feed port and discharge port are equipped with material blockage alarm functions to prevent equipment jamming or overload caused by material accumulation, and at the same time assist operators in handling faults in a timely manner.
The alarm signal should have sufficient recognition, with a loud sound and bright lights. Moreover, the alarm information should be able to simultaneously display the type of fault, facilitating quick problem location.
The safe operation of crushing equipment cannot do without complete safety protection devices as support. These devices serve as both a “hard barrier” against risks and a “soft power” to ensure production efficiency. Emphasizing the standardized configuration and regular maintenance of safety protection devices is not only a responsibility to the workers but also the foundation for ensuring the continuous and stable production. Only by integrating the concept of safety into every detail can crushing equipment play a greater role in industrial production and ensure long-term safe operation at the same time.
